Review:
The tagline for this movie is an epic epic Epicness and I could not agree more. After waiting in line for 3 hours after last nights Comic-Con and finally sat in the beautiful Balboa theater, I did not know what to expect. I loved comics and previews so true. The moment the movie starts (literally: the Universal logo and theme 8-bit), you are in a cartoon atmosphere with video game references aplenty.The plot revolves around Scott Pilgrim must defeat thrown 7 evil exes of Ramona Flowers in order to date her, and it is a harrowing sequence of games. Each game is wilder than the last, and some are used only for comedy, not voltage. Almost every other line is a punch line, and they all work. References, TV shows, video games and comics (like a 20-year life would) everywhere, and if you accept the concept of action, it all feels natural.While audience might've been biased (we held a 10-minute stand; applause for Edgar Wright, when the film is finished) Theres no doubt that its an excellent movie. Edgar Wright has an uncanny sense of humor with edits and audio signals to the image tight and focused as their leader after laughs.I can not imagine a mainstream theater burst into applause and laughter, as we did has, but do not mistake, this is a crowd favorite and the most entertaining films I've seen in years. Do not hesitate to see this masterpiece in a theater near you.
